We’re inviting entries for a writing competition for young writers in Pune – students under the age of 12 years can get their stories published in our annual compendium of young writers The Diary of a Puneri Kid.
The entries could be works of fiction in any genre (Fantasy/ Adventure/ Horror/ Everyday life). We expect and want the participants to let their creativity go wild! You might find these writing tips useful.
There are three categories – 5-8 years, 9-10 years and 11-12 years. There will be 20 winners in each category.
The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges and the final winning entries will be published as a book. In order to maintain the originality and ingenuity of the submissions, we have decided that there will be no editing of the drafts submitted for printing. So we request parents and teachers to help the writers with corrections, editing, spellings etc. in a rough draft before the final, ‘fair’ entry is submitted. The winning entries will be scanned and the story will appear in the writers’ own hand-writing.
All participants will
- Have their photo on the inside of the cover of The Diary of a Puneri Kid
- Receive a regular newsletter by e-mail with recommended readings for young readers
- Receive a ‘Puneri Young Writer’ badge
- All young writers who get published will win Gift hampers and free annual subscriptions from Tender Leaves.
- The school with the maximum entries will win books for their school library worth Rs. 5000/-
